It doesn’t rain often in Los Angeles, so when it does, the city feels different. I was driving through streets I know well, past palm trees and familiar intersections, and everything seemed softer. The pavement reflected the sky, the colors turned quiet, and even the traffic slowed down. It made me notice how rare and beautiful this moment was. The city that is usually dry and predictable suddenly felt alive in a new way.

I painted this because rain here feels like a gift. It reminds us to pause and see what is always there but often unnoticed. There is something comforting about these gray days, knowing the earth is being renewed. This painting is about that shared feeling of gratitude, when Los Angeles receives rain and, for a moment, everything feels calm and complete.
