Fireflies 18x20"
Fireflies 18x20"
I have always loved fireflies. As a child, I would wait for evening, watching the first tiny lights appear in the darkness. They felt like living stars, moving slowly and gently, asking nothing but attention. I never wanted to capture them, only to be close to their quiet glow. They made the night feel alive.
In this painting, the teddy bear holds that same moment of wonder. The jar illuminates his face, not with brightness, but with intimacy. Fireflies create light through a complex chemical reaction inside their bodies, a perfect balance of biology and energy. Knowing the science behind it makes it even more extraordinary. Something so small carries both mystery and precision. This painting is about holding that feeling of curiosity, where innocence and understanding exist together.
