This painting is based on a place I have passed many times on my way to the art store. It has always stayed with me because of the way the road rises and opens toward the distance. At sunset, the light settles across the pavement and everything slows down for a moment. The palm trees in the distance turn orange, and the entire scene feels warm and familiar.

I painted this because I love sunsets and the way California light transforms ordinary streets into something meaningful. This crossing represents movement, routine, and the quiet moments in between. It reminds me of why I paint and how inspiration often appears during the simplest drives, when the light reveals something you do not want to forget.
