California Haze, oil on canvas 24x36”
I took this photo while sitting in the passenger seat on an ordinary drive through Los Angeles. It was one of those sunny days when the light creates a gentle haze over everything, softening the edges of the buildings and wrapping the street in warmth. The tall palms leaned over the road as if they had always been there, watching quietly as life moved forward. Nothing dramatic was happening, yet it felt like something I didn’t want to forget.
I painted this because I wanted to hold on to that feeling. That quiet moment of simply being present, when the light turns an ordinary street into something meaningful. California has a way of doing that. The haze, the warmth, and the sense that even while you are just passing through, you are part of something lasting.
